Wasteland Tip No.3 – Salvaging

Burning Wrecks – Get Salvaging

What’s salvaging ?

It’s a way to quickly make money in Wasteland to allow you to gear up at the Gun Stores.

What salvaging involves is claiming back the burnt wrecks of vehicles, these can be Quads, Hatchbacks, SUV’s, Off Roads, Wagons and any of the Armoured Vehicles and Helicopters, so as long as they’ve burned, they can then be reclaimed.

The money you get back for salvaging depends on the vehicle, this is usually anything from about $140 for a Quad, right up to about $1500 for a Helicopter.

Easiest way to get some vehicles to salvage is to destroy them yourself, if you have an RPG or any explosive satchels, it’s just a case of parking a load of vehicles together and setting off the charge or firing the RPG at them, be sure to stood well back though as when those vehicles blow they spew out a ton of shrapnel and heat, all of which can either kill you or seriously injure you.

Another way to destroy a ton of vehicles if you don’t have the RPG or Satchel Charge, is to again park all the vehicles close to each other and then place a Quad as close as possible to them, then using max of 3 clips of ammo you can shoot up the Quad tires first then the fuel tank on it, this should cause it to explode, which then causes a chain reaction and everything else goes up, now you’ve got yourself not just a quad to salvage but all the vehicles that were beside it.

Now that you’ve blown them up, you need to salvage them, here’s another tip, make sure before you blow them, you have a Repair Kit in your Inventory, as this will speed up the act of Salvaging the vehicles, which if your near to spawn points is a must, as nothing attracts other players to a site more than smoke from burning wrecks . .

When salvaging be sure to keep a good distance from the burning wrecks, as excess heat will cause injury or death to you, also try to blow them up near vegetation/buildings, as you can use these as cover when salvaging, as nothing worse than being killed by the enemy because your sat out in the open reclaiming, they get all your hard-earned salvage 🙁

It’s also a good idea to make sure that you leave at least one vehicle out of the explosion and away from it, as this will be your escape means for when anyone turns up during the salvaging, you can also use it to store any nice things you may have found in the quads/cars/off-road/wagons before you blow them up.

Something else to take note of is that if after you’ve up all the vehicles up in the town and new one’s spawn, that’s a major hint that someone else has just spawned into the town, as both Vehicles and loot re-spawn when people spawn into the towns, so watch out.

  1. Pro tip: Instead of ‘investing’ the cost of a RPG rocket or a satchel in order to destroy some vehicles: Place any base part (ideally a wall or block) into a vehicle of your choice. Any vehicle works. Then get some distance and fire a single pistol shot at the vehicle. The hit will cause some physics logic to be executed and consequently, since we now have an object sharing the same space as the vehicle, lead to a bombastic explosion.

For additional coolness: Do not watch the explosion.
