So here’s tip No. 2 for Arma III’s Wasteland Mod

In order to survive in Wasteland, you going to need the following

Food & Water :
You need food and water to live and to heal any injuries you sustain in the game, if you food and water levels get below 70 your slowly but surely going to die, so finding these is a must.

Fuel and Repair Kits:
You will need these for fueling and repairing you general vehicles, they will also be need on certain missions in the game, examples being “Downed Helicopters” they need fuel to take off again, or the “Amour Supply Truck” this needs a repair kit before you can get it moving.

Bags:
These are needed to carry supplies such as Ammo/Grenades/Rockets/Med Pack/Spare Weapons etc, as you wouldn’t want to be in a prolonged gunfight and discover that your low on ammo.

So where do you find these in Wasteland ?

Buildings in towns mainly, but they can also be found in outlying villages and lonely shacks on the map, never dismiss a solitary building if you’re in the middle of nowhere, you just never know, it might have that fuel can/repair kit/food & water your desperate for.

So what are the best building to search first :

I’ve noticed that a high percentage of bags of various size, food, water, fuel and repair kits seem to always spawn in the shops with glass windowed fronts and staircase, always check upstairs as they spawn on the ground and the 1st floor.

You can also find in secondary locations like the brown stone barns all the above as well, though bags don’t seem to spawn as much in these.Something else your going to need to survive in Wasteland are

Weapons/Ammunition :
You need weapons to fight off or attack other players, you also need them to kill AI on the map, these could be random AI that wonder the map or the AI that defend the missions that appear on the map.
Without weapons you might as well just give up and play Scrabble . .

So where do you find  them:

Weapons can be found in the various vehicle dotted around the towns that players spawn in, if you spawn in a town and it looks to be devoid of vehicles, it’s always worth running around the edge of the town in a circle as a lot of vehicles tend to spawn on the peripherals of towns and villages.

Another tip about weapons is to note that when a new player spawns in a town, this will usually spawn new loot and vehicles into towns that have previously been stripped/devoid of both, so if you can not find either weapons or vehicles, just hand around for a bit and see if anyone spawns in.

Occasionally Weapons crates spawn in buildings in towns, these contain multiple weapons/clothing/explosives etc and if found are a godsend, as you can usually get tooled up and then load the crate and its remaining guns into a vehicle and sell it at a gun store on the map.

Other locations for finding weapons crates:

Weapons crates can also be found at 3 other locations and tend to spawn at these when the map first loads :

Barracks :

Grey 2 Story oblong building’s, usually at military installations and airfields on the map or in towns, each contain about 20 rooms which if when you arrive have all external/internal doors closed, should be searched thoroughly, as these tend to yield both crates/bags and occasionally ammo boxes for all armoured vehicles and helicopters in Wasteland, as well as secondary objects such as fuel/water/food/repair kits

Workshops :

These are large oblong single story buildings usually at airfields and the military installations with the white domed buildings, they usually have 2 doors on one side and a single door on the other, they have 5 internal rooms with doors that should always be searched, as well as waist level partitioned areas, again these should be searched, as with the barracks these can contain bags/weapons crates and ammo, as well as secondary objects such as fuel/water/food/repair kits

Power Station

Altis Solar Power Station

Solar Power installations :

These are usually chain link enclosed installations recognised by the circular fuel tanks/cooling towers and extremely tall viewing towers (good sniping spot in some areas of the map).
Crates can usually be on top of either the large round fuel tanks or the tall fuel tanks, these can be accessed by climbing the attached ladders.
Secondary items such as bags/fuel and repair kits can also be found on these fuel tanks.

It should also be noted that on the Sofia side of the island you can sometimes find bonus items located here, usually military vehicles such as Hemmets and occasionally Armed Off-roads (Technical s).

Remember any weapons you find and don’t’ want can always be sold at the weapon store for cash, which you can then use to buy the gun’s/equipment you want.
