Water Mains Burst on Chester Road

Just got back from attending a call out at work a water mains has burst in the pumping station next to the canal on the corner of Chester Road and Christie Road, Stretford, follow this link to see where it is.

Apparently when the Police arrived there it was shooting about 20ft in the air, by the time I got there it had reduced to about 4-5ft, that was ay 6:30am, I’ve now left there at 9:30pm and its still spurting water out, United Utilities have turned up and its still churning water out, most of its being drained into the canal, which will either be good for the fish (clean water) or bad for the fish (chlorinated water).

According to the United Utilities guys theres going to be a few house/areas with either very low pressure water today or no water at all, so quite a few unhappy people I’m guessing.

Anyway there’s not much more I can do at work, we’ve sand bagged any doors it might effect and now just got to wait for the water to be turned off and see if there’s any damage, all you need really on a Sunday morning after a heavy Saturday night on the tiles.

Got some footage of it anyway so will be sticking that up on YouTube shortly, so pop back in a while and it should be on here
