Panoramic Time-Lapses

As you’ll know if you’re a regular reader of my blog, I occasionally create time-lapses with my GoPro, these were mainly car journeys, where I would just attach the camera to the front/side/back/roof of the car and just let it take the thousands of necessary pictures for me to create a time-lapse movie.

These were ok, but I’ve been experimenting with panning time-lapse’s which you will hopefully also of seen somewhere on the blog and my Vimeo and Youtube pages.

At present I just use the GoPro and a device called a Camalapse to create the Panoramic Time-Lapse, but I’ve really been wanting to try it out with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-G3, which up to now has not been possible unless I attach an some sort of device to set the camera to take a picture at set intervals and to be honest I think the DMC-G3 might be a bit to heavy for the poor little Camalapse to handle.

For a while now I’ve pondered on ways to resolve this and now thankfully to a post someone pointed me to on a photography website I’ve discovered that wonderful site KickStarter has provided not one but two answers to the this problem, here’s the piece from the Photography site I read The Tale of Two Timelapse Devices

Out of the 2 devices I’ve decided to go with the Astro and have now placed my order, which all being well should be arriving in my sweaty little mitts sometime towards the end of June, beginning of July, I honestly can’t wait to try it out, not been this excited in ages about something, sad I know, but means I can try a time-lapse using my Fisheye lenses on my DMC-G3, thinking it’ll look quite funky.

Will post a review and unboxing when it arrives:)
