Yesterday and today I have mostly been. .

Removing a nasty little computer virus called “Police Central E-crime Unit” virus from my MD’s home computer.

E-Crime is a ransom ware, It’s a scam that’s been designed by hackers/criminals that try’s and sometimes succeeds to persuade gullible PC users into paying a fake fine for supposedly breaking copyright law. There are many variants of this particular virus, but this one’s predominantly aimed at computer users from the United Kingdom.

The virus locks down your computer and installs ransom ware among other payloads and informs the user via a displayed message on their PC that unless they pay a fine their computer will remain locked or they may face a prison sentence.

Here’s a few examples of the screen/messages that are displayed, as you can see they all request payment of a fine via various electronic payment systems.

Should you get this particular virus on your PC, do not under any circumstances make a payment, because all you’re doing is lining the pockets of criminals.

Instead follow the various instructions on one of the following linked pages

Removal Instruction’s using Kapersky Rescue Disc

I warn you though that it’s not always an easy process, I’ve been working on this particular PC for 1½ days now and have had to try both of the above solutions to remove this virus and even then it didn’t get rid of it completely, on top I’ve had to run Combofix, install and run Malwarebytes Free and just to be 100% sure I’ve also installed and ran SuperAntispyware free and this finally cleared off the last of the virus infection.

This is probably the 4th PC I’ve removed this off in the last 3-4 months, so it does seem to be quite prevalent at the moment, so be careful on what attachments you open on your emails and what links you click on in your browsers, because that’s how most of these Virus Payload’s are delivered.

Here’s a link to 10 Ways to avoid viruses and malware follow most of these and you’ll have a virus free pc.
