Well after a lot of false starts and incorrect discs, I finally managed to get hold of the original install discs for the MacBook and I’m happy to say it’s now had OS X re-installed and everything seems to be working beautifully.

All that’s left to do now is copy across the data I managed to recover from the old hard-drive and then the MacBook can  return to its rightful owner, who no doubt will be a very happy bunny indeed.

On the subject of Data Recovery, if anyone else requires help in getting data off broken hard drives let me know as I now have an arsenal at my disposal to aid in the job, I can also recover passwords/usernames for documents, email accounts, web pages etc.
