So how many gallons cam out . . ?

Well according to rumours I’ve heard, United Utilities lost about 25 million gallons in the 6-7hrs the mains was spewing out water, so who’s gonna foot the bill for that, just keep an eye on your water bills for the next couple of quarters and lets see if they go up at all.

I managed to get a look at the damage done to the pipes that caused this burst and you can understand why there was so much water, apparently it was a 18″ pipe that burst, part of Manchester water ring main, and looking at the damage it caused your thankful if happened in the morning on a Sunday and not during the week, cause if anyone had been near that pipe when it blew, they would have definately been dead.
Anyway United Utilities are now in the process of repairing the damage and hopefully replacing the pipes with something a little bit stronger this time.
