Just begged,borrowed Series 2 of Shameless, one the best programs on TV at this moment, C4 at it’s best, basically its the story of a dysfunctional family living on one of the many estates that can be found in Manchester, this one’s called Chatsworth Estate’s, even though the family seem dysfunctional, they operate at a pretty organised level ( organised, dysfunctional in the same sentence, yeah i know but its true).
The family consist’s of Head of the family, Frank, Fiona, Lip, Ian, Debbie, Carl and Liam – not forgetting the other two with Frank’s valium-fuelled lover, Sheila.
Here’s C4’s description fo the various charters :
FRANK GALLAGHER (David Threlfall)
Age 42. Roaring drunk, colourful, angry and self-pitying, Frank’s the biggest kid of the family.
FIONA GALLAGHER (Anne-Marie Duff)
Age 20. The feisty eldest sister, she’s bright, sassy and craving a bit of adventure in her life.
LIP GALLAGHER (Jody Latham)
Age 16. Mouthy, adolescent and extremely intelligent – a dangerous combination. Lip has two obsessions – to lose his virginity and to escape the Chatsworth Estate.
STEVE (James McAvoy)
Age 23. Cool, handsome, charming, with a steady job (car thief). Once a medical student, he comes from a nice middle-class background.
IAN GALLAGHER (Gerard Kearns)
Age 15. Keeps his private life very private – you don’t let on you’re gay on the Chatsworth Estate.
Age 30. She’s the Gallagher’s neighbour and Fiona’s best mate. Calls herself a nurse but was actually a cleaner in the local hospital.
KEV (Dean Lennox Kelly)
Age 33. Good old dependable Kev is Veronica’s long-term boyfriend. He works in the local pub, loves Veronica and keeps getting embroiled in the Gallagher’s scams.
Age 39. Having not left her house for years, agoraphobic Sheila lives in a prescription-drug fog. After an unhappy, sexless marriage it takes Frank to get her going again.
KASH (Chris Bisson)
Age 35. Runs the local mini mart. Kash is a hard-working, married, Muslim father of two. And he’s having a love affair with his under-age shop assistant.
Best bit of Mancunian drama/comedy to come out of the north, even better then Corrie, but anythings better then Corrie to be honest. Anyway gonna convert the DVD’s to MP4 and stick them on the Ipod to watch in my lunch break, need to catch up on series 2 so i can start watching series 3, which there airing at this very moment, if you haven’t seen this series go out and buy it, get some mates and a few tinnies in and lock the door take the phone off the hook and get ready to piss your self’s laughing
