Nokia N95 and VOIP

Today I discovered that I can get VOIP to work on my N95, even though Vodafone and a few of the other Mobile phone supplier’s had decided they did’nt want me or anyone else to have it enabled on there N95’s, all it took was a little visit to fring.com where I filled in a few details relating to my mobile, I then received a file from fring.com via SMS and installed it on my Nokia and then added/set up my Skype account on the N95 and Bob was ya uncle I had VOIP on my phone.

Now in order to use VOIP I have 2 ways of using Fring, one is by using my mobile to connect to the internet and then start the Fring software up and make a call to a Skype contact, which to be honest isn’t exactly as free as I’d hoped as I still have to pay Vodafone for the connection to the internet via my mobile, which believe me isn’t cheap . . alternatively I can just use the N95’s WI-FI technology to connect to any Wireless Access point and access the internet that way and then as before start and use the Fring software to dial one of my Skype contact’s . . . however this time I don’t have to pay for the call unless of course it’s my own Wireless Network, in which case I’m paying for the internet access for my PC at home anyway, so it is free as I’ve already paid.

Best thing though is that I can jump on my works Wireless internet and make and recive calls for free there, saving me a bundle on call’s to business’s I deal with who use Skype/VOIP etc.

Anyway you should check fring.com and the N95 out
