Manchester has spoken and the answer was NO !

no-congestion

Well the results for the referendum on whether Manchester should have a congestion charge came in last night and it was a resounding no from all 10 of the districts/councils, it seems that the majority of Mancunians don’t want a congestion charge and to be honest I don’t blame them, as it is if the congestion charge had come in anyone who couldn’t afford it and had to travel by public transport would have been fcuked to be honest, as presently Manchester transport system isn’t the best in the world and yes I know the Govt promised loads of money to sort this problem out, but until that money materialised and improvements were made to it, people would still of had to get into work in there own cars and still have to pay a congestion charge.

Maybe the Govt should invest the money first and then hold the referendum at least that was the infrastructure might be in place first and then that way they might get more people using the improved public transport and then they might think yeah its a good idea to get all these cars off the road and maybe actually vote for the congestion charge, that’s the way I would have done it.
