Just got back from a Romantic Weekend

Yep me and Mrs Its A Blog, have just returned from a lovely weekend nr Chester at the lovely Pheasant Inn in Tattenhall, we arrived there Saturday morning and spent the day soaking up the sun and generally watching the world go by, we also had a bit of a wander round the surrounding country side, which at this time of year was absolutely beautiful.

The Pheasant in is situated on a hill overlooking some stunning views across Cheshire, you can literally see for mile’s and when the sunsets it just gets better.

We stayed in one of the standard rooms which for a double works out around £85 for the night, but the price is worth it, you get an on suite bathroom (Well shower room anyways), a nice little wall mounted LCD TV, the usual Kettle and choice of coffee’s/teas and Hot Chocolate, and also as an added bonus for all you bloggers they have free wireless Broadband so you can log on the net and post ya blogs or youtube vids, which we did see the video of the sunset horizon a bit lower down.

This is an example of the type of room you get as a standard.

While we were there we sampled the many real ales they had on offer, but not being a big beer drinker I stuck to the Hoegarden which they happened to be selling (my favorite tipple), we also sampled the fine food on offer, Mel went for the Anglesey Bass and I had the Rib-eyed steak with chunky chips, by chunky chips . . imagine a potato sliced in 4 like and apple and then fried and thats what a Pheasant Inn chunky chip looks like.

After our meal we just sat in the beer garden and watched the rabbits frolicking in the meadow in front and drank until the sun went down, popped into the bar one last time for a Gaelic Coffee and then headed to our room (in a converted barn) and settled down for the night.

So after a very comfortable sleep (apart from the 2 times mel tried pushing me off the bed because i was snoring) we were awoken by the multitude of bird songs, popped back into the pub/hotel for a very filling breakfast and then bade farewell to Tattenhall and headed to Chester Zoo.

If you’ve not been to Chester Zoo since you were a child you should go visit it again, you don’t need to bring children or anything as theres plenty there and thankfully there not yours 🙂

We spent in total about 4-5 hrs just wondering round the zoo checking out the usual suspects i.e. Tigers, Lions, Effelumps, Rhino’s etc, but got to say our favorites were the Otters, Meerkats, Bats and probably the Mongoose, could of watched those 4 mammals all day long though I think Mel didn’t enjoy the Bat enclosure as Much as I did.

And now were finally home and both throughly exhausted by our walk round the Zoo.

So if you fancy taking the other 1/2 away for the weekend why check out the Pheasant Inn and follow it up with Chester Zoo
