Every day you see people, maybe your neighbors or the guy who jogs past your house every night , but you never actually speak to them except for the occasional “Morning” on the way to work, you never actually stop to chat or find out who they are . .
Thats all suddenly changed
It happened sort of overnight about a month ago.
I see the same people as before but now we stop and talk to each other, talk about the jobs we do about where we live about their children and what they where doing at the weekend, one of them has even offered to hang a door for me as I ain’t got a clue when it comes to DIY
So whats changed to make us all start talking ?
Well we’ve got a dog now ! all it took for all these strangers to start talking to each other was a dog, it all started as soon as we took Blue for her first walk on the fields opposite, people with other dog’s started saying hello and asking what sort of dog Blue was and where did we get her, they’d introduce their dog and tell us about the other people who walked their dog’s, then we’d see them without there dog’s and they’d ask how we where and their kids would see us walking down the street and say hello and ask how Blue was.
I met Steve tonight, he lives round the corner from us, been there about 2 yrs and spent those 2 yrs renovating the house he bought, but had never even said a word to him in all that time, but he came across tonight to say hello and give Blue a stroke and a pat and we just started chatting about his house and how he was getting on with it and it seemed as if we’d been talking for years, stood there for over an hour just talking about anything and everything and all it took to instigate this chat was a dog, seems mans best friend is more then just a friend, he’s a sort of middleman, , introducing people to other people, giving them something to talk about, something to start a conversation
Glad we got Blue . . she’s made all those strangers into neighbors . .
While were on the subject of Blue, took this photo of her the other day which shows how much of a chilled out dog she is
