is the dog’s bollox as far as I’m concerned when it comes to co-operative online gaming, when this game came out in its first incarnation TFC I wasn’t overly impressed and stuck to playing my favourite Counterstrike, then along came TF2 and I was instantly converted.
Since they rebuilt the game for Source I’ve been hooked, I think its’ down to the comedic look and style of the characters, I especially like the look of the Heavy and Pyro characters, the other bonus to the game is the weapon upgrades some of the characters can get through unlocking achievements, with in the game, these achievements are either individual or team based achievements meaning that to get some of them you do really have to cooperate with your team mates.
I’ve become quite addicted to it to be honest, something which hasn’t made me very popular with her indoors, but I can’t help myself . . . what better way to relax after 8hrs at work then to come home, go online and kill complete strangers over the Internet while hurling insults at team mates for not backing you up when you’ve rushed the capture point or picked up the enemies intelligent.
I also doesn’t endear me to Mel when she’s trying to get to sleep and all she can hear coming from the room with the PC in is me screaming down a microphone that there’s a spy in our base 🙁
To learn more about Team Fortress2, there’s a very good on-line guide here that gives you a breakdown of the characters pros and cons, what achievements are available and also gives a brief description of the different game modes that can be played on Team Fortress 2.
Here’s a few YouTube videos of some of the game-play to get you interested if you haven’t played before
