High Winds – Dangerous Signs

Well the weather here in Manchester’s going mental today, the wind outside is roaring around our building like its in a race or something.

Because of this wind I’ve spent about 20 minutes outside helping secure the metal panels that surround the Totem Sign our building . . . I went outside at lunch and noticed that nearly all the bolts/screws securing the panels to the Sign infrastructure had been worked out of there holes by the wind rocking the signs panels, if we had’nt spotted it in time there could have been a serious/nasty accident, if one of those panels had blown off onto the ajoining main road and into the path of a car, it would probably ended with some either being seriously hurt or killed.

We’ve now got 2 big bands wrapped round the bottom and top panels, these should hopefully hold until a the signage company who installed them can get out to us.
We’ve also suffered other damage to the building, in our Trade Counter the main door has been blown open pretty violently and its sheared the bottom hinge of the door off, again someone spotted it almost immediately and we’ve managed to get the door shut and locked, we’ve dropped the steel shutters down as well just to be sure the wind won’t catch it and do any more damage.

Just heard that a woman has been killed in Stockport by a wall collapsing due to the wind, details here , pretty sad that and very scary . .

Seems theres been 4 deaths so far as a result of this stormy weather
