As mentioned yesterday I installed the Wordfence Plugin and mentioned how it had found a number of compromised files in my WordPress installation, well another part of the plugin is the Live Traffic view where you can see real-time activity on your site, the activity it covers are as follows:
All Hits
Human
Registered Users
Crawlers
Google Crawlers
Pages Not Found
Login and Logouts
Top Consumers
Top 404s
Now while looking through the various activity shown I noticed that in the “Login and Logout” section if showed a few attempts from people to get access to the admin side of my blog (click on the image below)
something that expect happens to everyone’s blog at some time, but when you see it in black and white and see how many attempts have been made, it certainly wakes you up to the fact that securing your blog/WordPress is of utmost importance if you don’t want to lose the time and effort you’ve put into it.
Just another reason to install Wordfence Security Plugin wouldn’t you say . . .
As for the attempted logins, I’ve now added there IP addresses to the Blocked IP list that comes with Wordfence, so hopefully no more visits from them.
