Tor Network – Hack Attempts

Recently I’ve noticed a large increase in the amount of traffic coming from the Tor Network and its nodes, all of the traffic has unfortunately been related to hacking/exploit attempts on my blog or other wordpress sites.

Below are just a few of the worse offenders when it comes to the Tor Nodes that are hosting these hack/exploit attempts :

78.108.63.46[assk.torservers.net]
200.9.255.32[tornode.galileo.edu]
188.138.1.229[ncc-1701-a.tor-exit.network]
109.163.234.5[hessel3.torservers.net]
93.174.90.30[2.shulgin.nl.torexit.haema.co.uk]
46.235.227.70[london-tor.mooo.com]
62.210.69.5[exit2.telostor.ca]
37.130.227.133[torland1-this.is.a.tor.exit.server.torland.is]
93.174.90.30[2.shulgin.nl.torexit.haema.co.uk]
185.36.100.145[tor-proxy-readme.cloudexit.eu]
37.130.227.133[torland1-this.is.a.tor.exit.server.torland.is]

At least when the attempts come from a regular network address I can at least block them, or report them to their provider, but with the Tor Network, theirs no way I can identify the individual, all I can do is just block the whole node and hope for the best.

Its annoying that Tor which was initially set-up to  provide anonymity and protection from network surveillance, provide personal freedom, privacy, and most importantly to protect you from state security, has now been hijacked by the hackers and spammers of the world.

Something which should be used for good is now being exploited by unscrupulous people, looking to hack/exploit peoples websites for their own personnel gain, be this by installing Malware/Hijacking Data/Spam Advertising, it wrong and unfortunately due to its anonymity there’s not much anyone can do to stop them.

Such a shame, but looks like I’ll be blocking all future Tor Node’s that connect to my website, just to ensure I still have a website.
