Out with the old

So on Friday night I bid a fond farewell to my BMW 318SE Tourer, it served me well, 6 years of taking me, Mel and Blue on holiday and the daily journey back and fro from work.

The old girl had been sat on our drive since June, she was I guess feeling very sorry for herself, having to endure the sight of me every morning bypassing her and climbing into the new love of my life the 7 Series, it wasn’t fair on the old girl, so I finally decided to place a number of adverts on both Gumtree and eBay, the Gumtree one didn’t garner much success and at first neither did the eBay one.

It took being listed twice on eBay before she garnered any interest and finally 3 lads from Stafford-shire drove up to look at her, after spending a fair bit of time inspecting the car and pointing out a few faults here and there, they made an offer . . which was well below what we’d originally agreed, after a lot of haggling I finally agreed a price with them and shook on the deal.

After signing all the necessary paper work and handing the keys over and I watched as she was driven away to hopefully a new home that would treat her well and welcome her as part of the family.

Goodbye old girl and thank you for putting up with  those early morning cold starts, the long journeys to and from Cornwall, the night-time trips to Edinburgh and Carlisle and not once did you break down on those epic journeys.

I’ll keep a fond eye out when driving in the hope that I might spot your distinctive Reg of  YES TO YOU  (YE52EWW).

Gone but not forgotten . .
