Oddest Bar, Chorlton update

Went to Oddest Bar in Chorlton today to have a drink after last nights refusal, was allowed to sit outside with my dog this time, however did find out that they do indeed refuse dog’s and dog owners entry after a set time and also found out from talking to two seperate family groups, one in Horse and Jockey and one in Electriks bar that apparently couples with children are also refused entry after 5:00pm.

Now considering there are a hell of a lot of couples with children in the Chorlton area it seems as though Oddest are going to lose alot of custom from due to this policy, cause theres nothing a mother/father will remember more than being refused by somewhere because of their children, fair enough don’t have kids in bars after a certain time, but 5:00pm seems very harsh.

As for myself and Blue returning to Oddest for a drink or something to eat, well unless they change there no dog policy after a certain time I don’t think we’ll be heading there much in the near future.

So sorry Oddest if this is’nt the sort of review you’d like on a random blog, but how can I honestly review somewhere when I’m only welcome at certain times of the day.

  1. As someone who doesn’t own a dog, nor have kids, I have no problem with the policy. Oddest also seems genuinely busy every time I go past so I doubt they’ll need to change their policy any time soon.

  2. Well should the day come when you decide to have children or wish to meet friends who have children there, your views might change.

Regarding the policy itself, how would you feel if it was reversed and only dog owners and familys were allowed in after a certain time, I’m sure you’d be a little taken back by it all.

All I’m doing is pointing out what I feel is an unfair policy, which they don’t even have on display, perhaps if they had a prominent sign or had something displayed outside to let you know that familys and dogs are’nt welcome after certain times I or the 2 familys in question would’nt have had to have gone through the embarrasment of being refused entry in front of the assembled crowds outside.

When I asked why dog’s we’re’nt allowed to sit outside with there owners I was’nt even given a reason just told that “You cant sit out here with that dog”

As for them being busy, I’m truely happy that any business in today’s climate is thriving and I wish them well.

Just wondering who there going to ostresize next, maybe the over 35’s or under 25’s

    P.s. Chorlton Stew meant to ask are you the same Chorlton Stew off the c h o r l t o n . w e b forums ?

  3. I have never known any bar/pub not to allow dogs to sit outside. And I have been to many, in all of My 38yrs here! Mel (Vinces Mrs)
