I can work miracles, but I ain’t Jesus

A work colleague brought in a hard drive today, apparently it’s out of his mates g/f’s MacBook, which had stopped working.
Now rather than just taking it out and replacing it, he decided to take it out and then try to take the hard drive apart to see how it worked, it was at this point his g/f reminded him that it had all the photos of there son growing up since his birth a few years ago ( there are no other copies/back-ups).
This is when they decided to see if the photos could be retrieved & where I came into the picture (no pun intended).

I was asked yesterday if I’d be able to recover data from a broken hard drive, I explained that yes probably I would be able to…..
This is what they gave me :

As you can probably see from the photos, it looks like it’s been run over by a tank or in actual fact been ripped open by a car mechanic with pliers & a screw driver & as you’ve guessed my hard drive recovery software couldn’t recover anything, it couldn’t even see the drive to start with.

So unfortunately as the title of this piece says, I can usually work miracles when it comes to data recovery, however in this case the drive is as dead as Lazarus & I ain’t Jesus, so it looks like this drives staying dead & most likely the boyfriend who did this will shortly be joining it when his g/f finds out that she has indeed lost all the baby photos of their son since birth….
