Happy 40th Mouse

Yep that the humble mouse you use on your computer is 40yrs old  . . yeah it really is 40yrs since Doug Englebart  and some of his colleagues at Stanford Reseach Institute invented it, the reason it got the name mouse was because early models of the Mouse had a cord attached to the rear of the device, thus it resembled a mouse.

The Grandpappy of mice

The original mouse was nothing more then a computer controller encased in a carved-out wooden block, with a set of wheels mounted on its underbelly.

Though the mouse didn’t really come into its own until quite a while later when those innovators Apple bought the patent/licensed it fro SRI.

Now that humble little mouse can be found in most households around the world 🙂
