Delayed in Hong Kong . . FedEx bumping the package back

Seems my new shiny Motorised Camera Slider is presently delayed in FedEx’s Hong Kong facility, seems that it arrived on the 18th/19th May and had an estimated delivery date of 23rd May, but unfortunately it seems that the item has been bumped off all thus far UK Departing FedEx flights for priority packages.

3 Days in a row and counting, seems according to FedEx that the supplier of the product has an arrangement in place with FedEx in Hong Kong that all their Economy shipments are shipped this way i.e. The product will only leave Hong Kong if there is space on the plane after all other shipments are loaded, this is in order for them to have a lower shipping rate and apparently is specific to this supplier only, it does’nt happen with any other FedEx customers or one that they offer to other FedEx customers.

So after speaking to FedEx today on the phone and via email, I’ve still not been given a date for delivery of the product and told  the longest delay the FedEx man I spoke to has been 10 days but theoretically it could be delayed longer.

This obviously has not made me a happy bunny, slightly disappointed that I didn’t know this at the time, otherwise I might have been able to see if I could pay the extra to make sure that it was delivered on time and not continually bumped from the flight.

Will know more on Monday when I receive a reply to my email from the supplier and will hopefully find out why I wasn’t informed of this by either supplier or FedEx until I rang to find out where the delivery was . . .

Let this be a lesson to anyone ordering from China/Hong Kong find out exact delivery details i.e. Estimated Delivery dates, any delay clauses/deals between supplier and courier etc and get it all in writing.

Just got to wait now and see what day it does finally arrive 🙁

  2. Anoo, it was supposed to be going with DHL, but because it has batteries in it they wouldn’t apparently take it, so had to go with FedEx instead, did FedEx tell you something similar what they told me ?
