Crisps banned from the office . .

Yes believe it or not as stated above, we have now been informed that crisps are now a banned foodstuff in the office, this now joins :

Cuppa Soup’s
Hot Chocolate
Fresh Coffee

Though we have been assured that biscuits and fruit are allowed as these are deemed healthy, we were also informed that we should all be having a proper breakfast and by doing so that will enable us to survive till lunchtime without having to eat in the gap between, well some of us don’t actually have breakfast either because we don’t have time or we actually don’t have breakfast as a rule.

Anyway the reason crisps have been banned is due to the noise created by opening a packet of crisps and the noise from eating them and also by the fact that the MD doesn’t like people grazing at there desk’s, mmmm when did I become a cow then ?

Other things mentioned were that we should all smile while answering the phone, this is so that we can convey over the phone our happy mood to our customer’s, well how can people who have been banned from eating there favourite foodstuff’s be happy, if anything our disgruntlement’s at having these rules/ban’s imposed will just make us frown.

It’s also been raised again that the Office in general is to loud and also untidy, its a working office it’s bound to be loud, as for untidy, yes it can be sometimes, but most of the time I think it’s generally very tidy.

  1. sounds like your MD is a bit of a tw@ Vince.

anyway, good to hear that biscuits are now considerd healthy, that must be the chocolate hobnobs then?

    happy happy days

just a thought, do you think you should suck the biscuits cuz they might be too crunchy?

keep that smile on when answering the phone and whistle a happy tune ……. but not in the office of course!!

  2. Oh! the joys of being the boss. I eat on the hoof. I can eat whatever I want aswell. No food ban in my shop, if there was I would pass out as I do not get a lunch hour or a break all day. So I allow myself to eat on the hoof, otherwise I would only eat twice a day. Once before work at 6.30am and the 2nd after 7pm when I get in from work, so therefore going without food for over 12 hours is not an option I am prepared to take.

Yes crisps can be noisy but just tell yer boss he has his hearing aid turned up too high!!

Offices are noisy, phones are always ringing, people are talking on the phone, printers printing, noisy traffic going pass if you have windows open, staff opening metal filing cabinets and doors, BUT surely all these are acceptable forms of noise in an office.

Next your boss will be asking you to install silent phones or ones that light up instead of ringing…… to reduce office noise, and to whisper on the phone. I suspect your office is open plan. This is what happens when you have an open plan office it is more noisy than smaller offices.

Mess, show me a tidy desk and I shall show you a person who is bored and has nothing to do all day. Not only that a tidy desk tell me that the person has such a boring life and needs to get out and have a life before he has not life left……

When I worked in an office my desk was a mass of paperwork but before I went home on an evening majority of it was put away for the next day and my desk was fairly tidy. BUT that does not always happens as we do not live in a perfect life.

I can just see your boss wanting you to tidy your desk before you leave it, Fire Bell goes ….. it takes 1 hour to evacuate the office as everyone is busy tidying their desk up before they can escape from the building………..

Sorry to say but your boss is ******* words cannot describe him. All I can say is he ought to get a LIFE.

  3. Vince, Glynis is right, it shoul be very difficult to hear the russtle of the odd packe tof crisps over the general noise of phones, chatter and stuff in an office.

next you’ll be telling us the phones don’t ring and people aren’t allowed to talk. come off it Vinny no one works in an office like that do they?????
