Chinese Domain Registration Disputes . . All a scam

So you open your email one morning to find you have a mail message from a company purporting to be located somewhere in Asia that looks like this:

We are the (name of a chinese domain name company), we have something we need to confirm with you. We formally received an application on (recent date). A company called “(random registering company name)” are applying to register “(your brand)” as Brand Name and Domains.

(your brand).asia (Asia)

(your brand).com.cn (China) 
(your brand).com.hk (Hong Kong) 
(your brand).com.tw (Taiwan) 
(your brand).hk (Hong Kong) 
(your brand).in (India) 
(your brand).net.cn (China) 
(your brand).org.cn (China) 
(your brand).tw (Taiwan)

But we found that “(random registering company name)” is not the original owner of the brand and trademark in the checking period, which belong to your company. I need confirm with you whether your company authorized that company to register these domain names. If you have done that, we will finish the registration for them and link to their website. If not, please let me know ASAP.

We get on average about 3 of these a year offering to register a domain for us, before the other company gets them, well do what we do and just  ignore it.

It’s a scam.

     This is Beijing Erimart Network Service Co., Ltd which is a domain name register center in China. We received a formal application from a company applying for “(your brand)” as their domain name and Internet keyword on Jul. 7th., 2010.  Because this involves your company name or trade mark so we inform you in no time. If you consider those domain names and internet keyword important and would like to protect them by registering ahead, please contact us ASAP. Thank you!

After our initial examination, we found that the keywords and domain names applied for registration are as same as your company’s name and trademark. These days we are dealing with it. If you do not know this company, we doubt that they have other aims to buy these domain names. Now we have not finished the registration of HengTong company yet, in order to deal with this issue better, Please contact us by telephone or email as soon as possible.

If you have no any relationship with this company, please contact us within 7 workdays. If out of the deadline, we will approve the application  submitted by “Spond Investment Corporation” unconditionally.
