Astro Motion Control looks like its delayed again

Well after the last update at the beginning of January informing that they would start shipping them out in small quantities the last week of January it now appears that they are still actually assembling them and don’t actually have anything in place with delivery companies with regards dispatching the finished product :

Production is running a little slower than we had hoped though, good news is, we are in the last stage of the sub-assembly phase. We divided production into 2 phases: sub-assembly and assembly.

In sub-assembly, we are joining, screwing, gluing and press-fitting all of the individual parts we can to reduce the number of pieces we have to handle in the production stage, from over 45 down to 18. In an ideal scenario, both processes happen at the same time, however we don’t have enough space to carry them over simultaneously. It is also very time consuming to switch work stations back and forth from sub-assembly to assembly mode as we use different tools.

Once we close the sub-assembly stage (it should happen in a couple of days) we can start the assembly stage. This is the real fun part! Our plan is to carry the assembly, testing and shipping stages simultaneously. Meaning that we should be able to test and ship in small batches while production continues.

Right now we are figuring out the shipping logistics and it looks like there is a lot of work ahead of us!

Thanks again to everyone for keeping us motivated with your supportive comments. We are very excited to get Astro to you.

This now probably means a delivery date of late Feb/March now, but who knows with Oscar and his Kickstarter project, still thinking that he’ll pull it off, but that it’s going to be delayed again in the next update, only reason I’m sticking with Oscar is because he has actually posted photo’s or partly assembled pieces, so he has at least been ordering and getting parts manufactured, so just guessing and hoping that he’s just been a little unlucky with the finally assembly and dispatch (much like his updates concur).

Anyway watch this space for further updates on my first investment in a Kickstarter project . .
