11 November 2008 will be the 90th anniversary of Armistice Day

Armistice Day is the anniversary of the symbolic end of World War I on 11 November 1918. It commemorates the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany at Compiègne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front, which took effect at eleven o’clock in the morning — the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month”.

In remembrance of those fallen in the Great War and all subsequent theatres of war I hope like me you will join the rest of the country in 2 minutes silence to honour them.

War is not something I can ever condone and as such I should also ask that when thinking of those who died fighting for their country you should also think of those who suffered for a cause, that of the conscientious objector, an individual or groups of individuals who, because of either their religious, moral or ethical grounds, refused to take part in the war, but were either forced to or were vilified by those around them.
