Arma III : Wasteland Tips and Tricks No 7

Been a while since I posted any Arma III Wasteland Tip’s, been too busy playing it to be honest, anyway here’s a few to keep you going.

Taking Down Heli’s

As we all know there’s nothing worse than someone having an armed heli and not just getting to and clearing objectives before you, but also raping all the other players on the map while they are at it.

So how many times have you shoot your Anti-Air at the heli and the pilots just hit the Flares . . ?

Quite lot I’ll bet and how many times has the Anti-Air actually hit it . . . not many time’s I’ll bet . .

Well try this :

Make sure that the Heli has its front to you when you lock on, you’ve got more chance of the Anti-Air staying locked on and getting a hit then you have it locking onto the back of the heli

Remember it fires it’s flares from the back of the heli not the front, this gives front fired Anti-Air more chances of hitting the target.

Another way to take down heli’s particularly the AI one’s, is if you have at a Navid and at minimum 2 Mags for it, you should be able to take it down, probably can do it with one mag if you have a bipod to steady your aim and a good eye.

I’ve brought down numerous AI and player controlled heli’s using the Anti-Air in this way and as yet never failed to not take down an AI Heli with the Navid.

Why not give them a try and let me know how you get on.

Blowing up Urals and other Wagons

Now in my earlier posts I mentioned about Salvaging vehicle’s for quick cash, by either using say an RPG/Grenades or as a commenter mentioned “by placing objects into the vehicles than shooting it a couple of times”.

Well I’ve now noted that by firing into the Urals and other Heavy vehicles Fuel tanks, you can get an explosion after about 5-6 rounds, when you do this be sure to place other vehicles close to it, so that the explosion takes them out to.

Surroundings

I’ve noticed that a lot of new players to Arma 3 and its mods such as Wasteland aren’t very spatially aware, by this I mean before rushing into an objective or attacking other players, they don’t take much time to view their surroundings. .

Why rush into an objective if you can sneak into it, you’ve less chance of being spotted by other players or the AI, if you take it slowly, cautiously.

Before heading down to an objective review the area around it, check your map and look for the best way in and the best way out, look for places to put team members on over-watch to cover you in case it all goes FUBAR.

By doing this your ensuring you have a better chance of firstly securing the objective and secondly surviving the objective.

When your reviewing the area, check for likely spots where there might be enemy snipers, don’t forget some people like to camp objectives rather than take them, you don’t want to be leading your team members into a trap.

Remember to use the trees, building, walls and the contour of the land to help you move towards your objective, remembering to stop and look/listen around you, scan the other trees, building, walls around you for movement, remember there are other players after the objectives.

If you use TeamSpeak, this is where it really helps out, your guy on over-watch can scope out your surroundings and the path ahead, warning you of any possible contacts, while you at the same time can relay to him where you think your being shoot at from, if you come under fire.

With this in mind it’s always a good idea to choose a path that give’s your Over-watch team clear view of your path, so in the event you are taken down, they can return the favor to anyone who attempts to loot your body.
